Frequently asked questions

We've listed the most common questions from our 10+ years helping Doctors.

This FAQ is focused on this course content only.

Do I have to sit a College assessment?

NO if you comply with the AHPRA Expedited Pathway for GPs, Obs/Gyno, Anaesthesiology with qualifications that meet conditions from the UK/Ireland.

OTHERWISE YES.

Do I need an Employer before a College assessment?

NO, You can secure Specialist Assessment only with many of the Colleges. This provides an outcome stating your "comparability" with an Australian trained Doctor.

For public health OR for private practices with a College accredited teaching practice this will suffice. However, those roles are difficult to secure as you are competing with Australian registrars.

We recommend seeking an Employer AND undertaking a dual Specialist/Area of Need assessment.

What are the timeframes?

Timeframes comprise the following:

1. Assessment timeframe depends on the backlog for a specific College. Some assess within a few months, other up to 12 months;
2. AHPRA registration takes 10-12 weeks from lodgement;
3. Visas take 3-5 months from lodgement;
4. Medicare provider numbers (needed in private practices) take 6-8 weeks; and
5. Also take into account your notice period to your current employer.

What is the remuneration for Doctors in Australia?

Clearly it varies by specialist AND location. However, based on our experience the remuneration levels in Australia are far more attractive than Overseas.

There is a substantial difference between private (higher) than public employers.

Can you find me a job?

We do NOT regard ourselves as a recruitment agency.

Our focus and competency is medical licencing and migration.

HOWEVER because of our competency we are engaged by leading healthcare employers and following Due Diligence we introduce high quality candidates to them.

Your Due Diligence Report provides information they need to make a decision.

We provide a list of potential employers by Speciality when you enrol in the Exploring Opportunities package OR Seeking an Employer.
